A man apparently jumped to his death from the third floor of the Galleria Dallas shopping mall to the basement ice skating rink about 50 feet below this afternoon, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue was called at about 2:35 p.m. and emergency medical personnel found the man unresponsive on the ice. They performed CPR and took him to Medical City Dallas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Dallas Police said the man, 42, had suffered from depression. He had been shopping with his girlfriend and her daughter, but was apart from them when he jumped. He narrowly missed a mall employee working at the ice rink. The investigation is ongoing. The man’s name was not released.
